Mastodon accounts on any server

Manage Mastodon with Ripple

Post to your server with its own limits, content warnings and visibility, answer mentions and track engagement. All through Mastodon's official API, next to your other networks.

What you can do

Everything Ripple does on Mastodon

Each feature below reflects what Mastodon's API allows today. Where it does not, we say so.

Mastodon details

On Mastodon, you can

  • Publish and schedule posts with images or video, content warnings and visibility
  • Replies, mentions and private mentions in the inbox; reply to them
  • Followers and post engagement (favourites, boosts, replies)

What you can post to Mastodon

  • Text of up to 500 characters
  • Up to 4 images per post
  • Video up to 99 MB
  • Links are added to the text

The publishing hub checks these limits as you type and shows a Mastodon preview before anything is posted.

How to connect

Connect Mastodon in three steps

  1. 1

    Sign in to Ripple

Use your DuoDev account and create or pick an organisation.

  2. 2

    Open Connections

An owner or admin chooses Mastodon.

  3. 3

    Approve on Mastodon

You sign in on Mastodon's own page and approve the permissions. Ripple never sees your password.

You need

  • A Mastodon account on a public server: you enter your server and sign in there, no developer app needed.
  • Character, attachment and file size limits are your server's own.

Access tokens are encrypted at rest and scoped to your organisation. Disconnecting asks Mastodon to revoke access where it supports that.
